What if you could decorate a body part?

The Art Cabriolet is connecting local artists and muralists under the guidance of art therapists to merge the latest technology in transferring art images created by children/adolescents for their artificial limb

Limb Difference is an all-embracing term used to describe persons born with congenital limb difference or who acquires limb loss after birth. A person with an acquired limb difference has had an amputation to remove all or part of a limb.

Children and young people with limb difference can lead independent, thriving lives. In Australia it is estimated that close to 2,500 children and young people live with a limb difference.

The Art Cabriolet team has designed a program allowing Children with limb difference full autonomy over the appearance of their prosthetic.

We understand the potential of prosthetic art as an extension of young people's personalities, a way of embracing who they are. We are connecting local artists and muralists under the guidance of our art therapists to merge the latest technology in transferring art images created by children/adolescents for their artificial limb.

The art processes allows children of limb difference to inject personality into their artificial limb. Creative Art Therapy sessions with the children and their Art Therapists explores themes of body image, associated anxiety, modification, development, public self-consciousness, depression, bullying, and grief of loss. The process encourages positive dialogue and celebration around body diversity.

Our Creative Art Therapy processes sees children release, explore and celebrate their authentic self - where physical appearance becomes a form of self expression. Our goal is to demonstrate how a prosthetic is an extension of their personality as opposed to a replacement of what is missing.

The Art Cabriolet has a unique way to help.

Creative Art Therapy outcomes reach where words can’t go affording the child/adolescent a sense of control in a world that is more and more out of their control.

Creating art engenders hope, increases positive affirmation, reduces anxiety, disengages from negative thought and empowers the hands and mind. It safely invites the child to be self-expressive, giving voice and acknowledgment to their personal and confronting experience.

Art speaks – HERE I AM.
